Ultrasound utilizes high frequency sound waves to look at the size and structure of body organs. Ultrasound gel is placed on the area to be examined and a probe is moved over the area to obtain the images. This procedure is performed by both Sonographers and Radiologists. A Radiologist interprets the images and provides a report.

Computed Tomography (CT) Scan is a medical imaging procedure that uses x-rays to obtain cross sectional images of the body. CT is used to investigate a wide variety of medical conditions in the brain, spine, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities. Some studies require the intravenous (into a vein) injection of an Iodine containing liquid (contrast medium), in order to better visualize certain structures.

Fluoroscopy can be thought of as a video x-ray. This usually involves the administration of a contrast medium (dye) into the body part of interest. The most common contrast for the stomach, colon and small intestine is barium sulphate.

Radiographs are images obtained using x-rays that have passed through an area of the body, and are captured on an imaging device. Images are taken from different angles for greater detail.

This is an x-ray examination of the breast from several angles, most commonly in order to detect cancer. The breast is placed on an imaging plate and compressed during the x-ray exposure. The images are then assessed by a Radiologist before the patient leaves the department.
